Dr Andrew Kuper is a multi-award winning entrepreneur and investor whose philosophy of Profit with Purpose has shaped diverse industries and markets. He founded LeapFrog Investments in 2007; in 2017, LeapFrog was named by Fortune as one of the top 5 Companies to Change the World, alongside Apple and Novartis. Today, LeapFrog’s companies serve 126.2 million people across more than 33 emerging markets with financial tools and healthcare. Portfolio companies have grown an average of over 40% per year and support 117 thousand jobs. Tens of millions of people are accessing quality insurance, savings, credit, pensions, payments and healthcare for the first time. LeapFrog is now the largest dedicated equity investor in emerging consumer companies. It is backed by many of the world’s leading institutional investors. A number of its companies have been acquired by Swiss Re, Prudential Plc, Fidelity, XL Catlin and Standard Chartered among others. Dr. Kuper serves as CEO and Chairman of the Investment Committees. He has been hailed by President Clinton for “opening up new frontiers for alternative investment” and The Economist group for demonstrating how “to change the way we invest as individuals, institutions and societies”. In 2018, he received the John S. Bickley Founder’s Award Gold Medal for Excellence by the International Insurance Society for his “profound impact on the insurance industry and society in general”. He previously won both the EY National Entrepreneur of the Year award and the SEN Leadership Award from among the 25,000 chief executive members of WPO-YPO. Born and raised in South Africa, Dr. Kuper was educated at Witwatersrand, Cambridge and Harvard Universities, and holds a PhD from Cambridge. He is an Australian citizen. He is the author of two books and many articles on globalisation and governance, and co-author of publications with diverse leaders and Nobel laureates.
