George is a founding partner and member of the investment committee of Criterion Africa Partners, a private equity firm investing across the timber value chain in Sub-Saharan Africa. Prior to forming Criterion Africa Partners, he was the Managing Director responsible for raising over $1 billion for Global Environment Fund (GEF) for growth equity and buyout funds in emerging markets and the U.S. George has over 15 years of private equity experience in the energy and natural resources sectors. Prior to his private equity career, George was responsible for new business development and corporate ventures for Hewlett-Packard from 1988 until 2000. George began his career as an electrical design engineer with Grumman Aerospace and United Technologies – Norden Systems.
He holds a Master of Business Administration from George Washington University and Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering from the State University of New York at Buffalo.
