Peter O’Driscoll is a partner in Orrick’s M&A and Private Equity Group. He has extensive experience in cross-border M&A, private equity, corporate conflicts, impact investment, and growth capital transactions in emerging markets, Europe and the United States. In addition, he advises on corporate governance matters and has led internal investigations. Although he has worked in a number of industry sectors, much of Peter’s work has been focused on transactions in the mobile telecommunications, oil and gas and mining sectors. Peter practiced in New York from 1987 – 1991, in London from 1991 – 2010, and in New York from 2010 – 2013. He is now based in Lugano, Switzerland, and divides his time between Orrick’s offices in Milan, London and New York. Peter has been a member of EMPEA’s Legal & Regulatory Council since 2011, participated in the drafting of the original EMPEA Guidelines, and led the drafting of the updated EMPEA Guidelines. His article, “Rising to the Challenge of Growth Capital Equity Investment in the World’s Poorest Countries – A New Model,” published in the Spring 2017 edition of the EMPEA Legal & Regulatory Bulletin, and republished in ImpactAlpha as “The ’23 Fund’: A New Model for Growth Capital in the World’s Poorest Countries,” has sparked a debate around the need for growth equity investment in LDCs as part of the effort to meet the Sustainable Development Goals.
