First Vice-President, European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD)
Mr. Bennett has recently (March 2018) completed his five year term as First Vice President at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the London-based regional Multi-lateral Development Bank focused on fostering private sector, sustainable development across its 37 country region. In that role, he was responsible for all client relationship, investment, policy and business strategy issues and processes. As Chair of the Investment Committee and Head of the Banking and Policy Divisions, he has had direct oversight of the full investment process (origination, approval and portfolio management). New investments (debt and equity) totaled some $55bln across 1,900 separate, impact-targeted projects under his leadership. Prior to EBRD, Mr. Bennett worked at Citigroup/Salomon Brothers in New York and London for 29 years where he held a variety of leadership positions in Global Capital Markets and Investment/Corporate Banking and had a particular focus on global emerging and frontier markets. Mr. Bennett is a graduate of the University of Chicago (M.B.A.), Princeton University (M.P.A.) and the University of North Carolina (B.A.).
